Do You Like Christian Book Reviews? June 14, 2007

Posted by roberttalley in Book Reviews, Discerning Reader, Links.

Tim Challies is one of the best known conservative Christian bloggers out there because he writes good material. He has another site that specializes in Christian book reviews. Check it out. The name of the site is Discerning Reader.

He reviews all kinds of books: bestsellers, biographies, secular books, novels, etc. If you like to read, he will review something of interest to you and will do it well. Some of his most recent reviews include the bestseller “The Secret” (see the previous post on this site), “The Faith of Condoleeza Rice”, “The Dangerous Book for Boys”, “Family Worship”, and “A Scottish Christian Heritage”.

I would like a book review on The innocent mage by KAren Miller, my mother has bought it for my son for christmas and I am not sure as it has magic in it. Is it suitable for a christian youg teenager to read. Thanks

I have not read the book myself but based on other book reviews, my guess is that you would use the same standard that you use in determining whether to allow your child to read Tolkien or Harry Potter. As to the quality, the reviews seem to be mixed among the secular book reviewers.
